    > Cladding of LED-lit walkways between buildings:
490 m2 tensioned on aluminium sections with a tension compensating system
    > Cladding of loggia balconies :
810 m2 tensioned on grooved sections

  • Over 1,300 m2 of Soltis FT 381 composite membrane clad the building’s external walkways and the balconies of the 48 social housing units in the “Cap Roux” Residence at Merignac, France. Soltis FT enriches the aesthetic architectural identity of the building facades, which stand out colourfully during the day and fascinate at night, when they are illuminated. From an energy standpoint, the thermal performance characteristics of this Serge Ferrari openwork membrane contribute to the building’s positive energy balance as well as the residents’ comfort.

“This project – certified low-consumption (LCB) and high environmental quality (HEQ) – endorses a sustainable urban planning commitment, whose primary embodiment is a context-based approach”, confides Richard Vianne-Lazare, Revel’Archi manager and lead architect.

“To the north, an urban façade structures the public area. To the south, every apartment is fully exposed to the sunshine and benefits from a peaceful environment at the very heart of the area. To the east, a vast, landscaped car park ensures the area’s freedom from all traffic presence.  To the west, “Cap Roux” is situated within a welcoming, friendly central area – forming an extension to the “Roseraie” development – and, in its centre, the island’s green heart is both open and landscaped”, explains Béatrice Pézeril, Revel’Archi’s manager and project architect.

Divided into two parallel building developments, each split into three small dwelling units, these 48 apartments embody lightweight, strongly graphic architecture. The Soltis FT 381 composite membrane clads the external walkways and the approximately 8 m² loggia balconies and contributes to the architectural identity and futuristic aesthetics of this dynamic development.

Extending each living room, the projecting triangular-shaped loggia balcony reduces the facade’s linearity and its thermal losses. The Serge Ferrari membrane therefore plays a major role in controlling building light and thermal regulation by preventing overheating in summer. Flexible and lightweight, this material fulfils effectively fixed solar and wind protection functions. Furthermore, it offers pleasant outward visibility, while curtailing dazzle effects and conserving occupant privacy.

With Soltis, the Serge Ferrari Group offers a range of openwork composite membranes for facades as well as waterproof, breathable membranes.

This range's major innovation is that it embodies a comprehensive technical solution specific to facades.
Composed of Soltis FT facade membranes and Stamisol Color coloured membrane, the range offers multiple finishing options through its scenic usage of light and 3D design.
This solution is attractive because of its relevance, technical performance, reliability and durability. Soltis FT & Stamisol Color combination is the ideal answer to architects' and investors' requirements for modern ventilated facades.

Soltis also offers an extensive selection of membranes for transparent and openwork facades, as well as for under-roof screening.
The cutting edge coating technology of Stamisol breather membranes mean they work just like our skin: they breathe, protect from external aggression, control building humidity and thermal performance.
